Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been teaching secondary English since 1998. I have taught in Arizona on the Navajo Reservation, in California for mostly hispanic migrant farm workers, and in Wendover, Utah, to almost entirely hispanic students. Now I teach in Ogden, Utah, at an alternative high school for troubled teens. I have been in the Army for 12 years: 8 years in the Utah National Guard and 4 years active duty. One year was served in Iraq (2004-2005).
College and Degrees:
BA from BYU (Brigham Young University) in English (1997). MA from NAU (Northern Arizona University) in English (2005). Post-graduate work is currently being done at GCU (Grand Canyon University) in Phoenix, AZ, in secondary reading instruction.
Activities:
I like to be active jogging, riding my BMX bike, cooking in the kitchen, being with famliy and friends, and learning (professional development).
Favorite Books:
Dostoevsky's "Brothers Karamazov," The Bible, and Bronte's "Wuthering Heights."
Interests:
I enjoy reading about history, philosophy, literature, religion, and education.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach to help kids become as prepared for success in life as they possibly can be. Education is inspiring people to question, to research, and to be actively engaged in the discovery process of the world around them.
