Nelsonville-York Jr High Sch
Hometown:
Nelsonville
Class Information:
Room Number: 203
Students per Class: 26
Class Description:
My students have specific learning disabilities and cognitive delays. I try to include them as much as possible in the general ed. classrooms, but often we need to go to the resource room for more in-depth lessons. They are wonderful students who with the right curriculum materials can learn any thing they put their minds to:)
Position:
Special Ed. teacher
Needs:
Our classroom needs more technology! I left a building equipped with projectors and white boards. It has been difficult to function without those now. I want to provide these students with the best materials and hands-on interaction available. Their learning styles are so vast and there attention spans so limited that without technology it is hard to get them to understand advanced concepts in science and social st. They really need to be able to see it on a big screen and be able to interact with the material. Just reading it in a book won't do it for them!
My Philosophy:
My philosophy is that all children can learn. They all have different learning styles, which teachers need to tap into in every lesson. There needs to be a large amount of differentiation in a classroom and technology makes it easier to accomplish that. Students deserve the best education possible and we as educators have the responsibility of delivering it to them. The teaching and learning process is the cornerstone of the education system and in order to improve and advance it, we must incorporate technology into our lessons.
