Class Description:
North Loop Elementary, a Title I school, is ninety-eight percent Hispanic and ninety percent of our student population receives free lunch. The majority of our students belong to families with limited incomes therefore technological opportunities at home are limited. My class consists of five and six year-olds, monolingual and special-ed students. The academic levels of these students vary. As Kindergarten teachers, we feel it is our duty to provide our students with as many technological opportunities without regard to their age, social-economic status, academic status, as possible so that we can bridge that gap.
Position:
Kindergarten teacher
Needs:
I would like digital cameras for my classroom so that my students can take pictures of everything they are learning. After taking photos my students will upload them and make podcasts.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy on technology is that technology is a tool that can and should be utilized across the curriculum by teachers to ensure academic achievement for all students. As a Kindergarten teacher, I believe my students, given the opportunity, can benefit greatly from early exposure to a technology-rich environment. This exposure will essentially lay the foundation for District wide academic student achievement and our future. As a Kindergarten teacher, I feel it is my duty to provide our students with as many technological opportunities without regard to their age, social-economic status, academic status, as possible so that we can bridge that gap.

About Me:
My name is Vanessa Gomez and I am a Kindergarten teacher at North Loop Elementary in El Paso, Tx. I am an educator, mother to my 2 year old Marc, wife to my husband Marco, and a friend to many.
College and Degrees:
I currently hold a Bachelors of InterdisciplinaryStudies with a minor in Early Childhood Education from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Activities:
I enjoy being on the computer and I love to stay at home and relax with my family.
