My Philosophy:
Engage students by meeting their visual needs. They can't relate to History that they can't even picture! By sharing places, History becomes real and then people become human and the connection to who and what we are is made!
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am in my 8th year of teaching. I taught 2 years of 5th grade, then a year at 7th grade Social Studies, then two years at 5th grade again, then a year at 7th grade, then last year and this year 9th grade World History.
College and Degrees:
I have an Bachelor's degree in Criminology from Florida State, a Bachelor's degree and teaching certificate from Ashland University, a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Master's in Administration from Ashland University in Ohio.
Activities:
I am active in my church youth program which serves Young Men and Young Women from ages 12-18.
Favorite Books:
The Twillight Series, anything from Nelson DeMille, in fact nearly any mystery is a hit with me!
Interests:
I sew, cross-stitch, garden and of course READ!
Employment History:
I was a stay at home mom until my youngest was in 5th grade. I then worked at McDonald's as a flexible job and worked my way up to Store manager. It consumed my life and I decided to go into teaching.
Why Do I Teach?:
I have always felt a connection with young people and felt I could make a difference. I chose to work in an urban district because I felt those kids really needed someone who cared.
