Position:
Teacher

smart board, projector, screen classroomcomputers (laptop) documentreader math manipulatives
My Philosophy:
To teach is to touch a life as no other profession can. I believe that students should enjoy their education, not consider it a task that must be completed. I have seen what hands-on work can accomplish. Students come into the classroom ready to have fun. (They do not realize they are learning). I also think that teachers should take advantage of sharing with coworkers, so I am into teaching across the curriculum. It is the one way for my students to see the connection among all subjects they are taking.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am an educator. I have been teaching for over 20 years. I did not begin teaching until my four children were in high school, so I did start late in life. As I have already mentioned, I have four children. They are all married and have blessed me with 14 grandchildren. I have been married to the same man for 35 years.
College and Degrees:
I have an associate degree in business from Northwestern State University. Myeducation degree is from Louisiana Tech University My degree is in Elementary Education. I am also highly qualifieed to teach Middle Grades Math, and all subjects in grades 1-5.
Activities:
I am the cheerleading sponsor for my high school. This takes up most of my free time from August unitl June.
Employment History:
I have been employed by the Jackson Parish School Board for 20 years. I took a leave for one year to become the Site Coordinator for a LASIP math project at Louisiana Tech University. I have taught 1st grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 6-8 grades (15 years). For half of a school year, I was moved to high school. where I taught Geometry, Algebra II, Advanced Math, and Consumer Math.
Why Do I Teach?:
Teaching gives me so much pleasure. I love working with my students, and I am amazed at the depth of their thirst for knowledge. Even those students that consider school a "task", are willing to give me a chance. WHY DO I TEACH? I love imparting knowledge and I love those students that I come into contact with.
