Class Information:
Room Number: 156 Tech Lab

Class Description:
All of the students at CTE come to technology. The class meets for 40 minutes,. They kids are learning how to save their work, after logging into the school server. We are working on improving typing skills, doing research using the BIG 6 and BIG 3 models, learning to use the programs we have on our MAC computers in an effective way. When doing research we are focusing on using appropriate citations in using sources. Our most interesting project involves our student sharing their projects with students in Israel, Africa, India, Jamaica, and the UK.
Position:
Technology
Needs:
Headsets and speakers. A set of clickers. A white board and slate. Our classrooms need computers to enable teachers to use them as a center.
My Philosophy:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime. This is attributed to Lao Tsu. I believe learning is much the same. It is easy for me as a tech teacher to "push the right key". That helps that day but not for a child's lifetime. Our students must function independently and be able to figure out, using their existing knowledge, to think through the process to its logical end.
