Clark Elementary School
Class Information:
Students per Class: 19
Class Description:
Clark Elementary is a Title 1 school located in a small, rural community with a large percent of low-income families. The overall population consists of 68% white/caucasian, 5% african american, 22% hispanic, 2% Asian/Pacific Islander or Native American, and 3% multiracial/ethnic. In my classroom, I have 11 boys and 8 girls, of which 6 are labeled English Language Learners (ELL).
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
The school has limited funding for classroom supplies and resources, so my needs are largely based on educational materials. I need more resources to create centers, especially for math. This would include manipulatives such as geometric pattern blocks (2D and 3D), cuisenaire rods, geomirrors (symmetry), plastic coin sets, fraction kits, graphing mats, counters, clocks, timers, and math charts. Also I would like to have more educational reference and resource books such as Read It! Draw It! Solve It! by E. Miller, Teaching First Grade: A Practical Guide by M. Hong, Day-By-Day Math Mats by M. Rosenberg, Fostering Independent Learning by Harvey & Chickie-Wolfe, Teaching the Fun of Math by J. VanCleave, and Taking Note: Improving Your Observational Notetaking by B. Miller.
