Class Description:
I currently teach sixth grade math and science.

Needs:
As I wear many hats as a teacher I have several technology needs at the moment. As the co-producer of my school's daily news broadcast we are always in need of video cameras and other technologies such as equipment to put our daily broadcasts into vodcasts (placing our work on the internet) which then allows our community to have access to what we are doing. I am also currently developing a new elective for 7th and 8th grade students. The elective's focus is on claymation but it would be great to broaden this into a full video production capacity so that students can learn to film and edit their own films. These films can then be submitted into student film festivals. Equipment for this would include video cameras and video editing software.
My Philosophy:
All students can learn. We, as teachers, need to continue to educate ourselves to meet the needs and challenges our students have as well as face today. Teachers need to grow professionally and find new ways to encourage students to want to learn. Lectures are not enough, students need to meet in groups, discuss what is learned and feel comfortable in their learning environment.
