Public alternative program. I was here from the start of the program--1998. We are in a BIG time of change this year. Another at-risk program is moving over to my building, and we are going to move from students doing packet courses to project/inquiry based learning.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, moved to Carollton, Texas at age eleven, Morristown, New Jersey at age fourteen, and then to Oskaloosa, Iowa at seventeen.

BA from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, IA with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences; minor in Special Education
MA from Drake University in Des Moines, IA in Special Education with an emphasis in Behavior Disorders.

Why Do I Teach?:
I went into teaching late in my life because I felt I needed to do something that was more meaningful and would make an impact on the world.
I went into teaching alternative education because there is no place for students who do not like the three R's. So far, I love my job; I just want to keep doing a better job.
