By having an LCD in may classroom, I can assure its DAILY use. The biggest obstacles teachers have in using technology is the time it takes to set up and take down. Teachers do not have 20 minutes between lessons to set up devices. When a LCD projector is permantly set up in a classroom, I can easily set-up the SMART board, iRespond, Video, and computer software for students to interact with during a lesson.

As of 2008 our school population is about 52% poverty and 39% English as a second language. Students have access to technology at school, but many have little at home.
Position:
5th Grade Teacher
Needs:
More computers in my classroom, so technology and learning can go hand in hand. The ability to "checkout" computers for at home use (ie: doing math assignments using Excel at home) Digitial cameras and camcorders to take book reports, writing assignments, and research projects into the technology age. MP3 players/ recorders Any form of technology that allows my ELL (English Language Learners) opportunities to expand their academic vocabulary
My Philosophy:
Students of today can "google" facts. They don't need to learn trivia, they need to learn to think. Their whole life with will have information and data at their finger tips. They need to be able to disern fact from fiction, to be able to interprete data, and apply the ever growing use of technology into meaningful ways.

Why Do I Teach?:
Simply put I love kids. I love watching them grow into young adults who will be positive members of society. When you work with kids, everyday is different. You have the ability to touch the future in unmeasurable ways.
