My Philosophy:
I try to emphasize a welcoming community in my classroom, utilizing 7 small groups of 4 students each. The core focus of my classroom is on Learning, Leading, and Serving (via my experience at the University of Dayton). I also emphasize Dreaming BIG, Working HARD, and NEVER giving up. To achieve these things, I try to know the whole student, and educate the whole student with support and compassion, but also with a sense of purpose and structure. To engage the whole student is not easy, but technology can actually help if done appropriately. It allows for a MUCH more flexible learning environment. I am continuing to explore ways that technology can enhance the learning opportunities of my students in a meaningful way. Through formative assessments (many of which utilize technology), and creative opportunities to re-learn material, my hope is that every student not only will be supported in their educational journey, but will FEEL supported too.
