Jesse Stuart Elementary School
Hometown:
Madisonville, KY
Class Information:
Room Number: 184
Students per Class: 18 (currently)
Class Description:
My class is made up of 18 first graders of varying abilities. I have special education students with disabilities as well as gifted students in my class. Most of my students come from low socioeconomic homes and have difficulties in their lives. My students love hands-on activities and love technology.
Position:
First Grade Teacher
Needs:
Our class really needs a clicker system to use with our classroom SmartBoard. A SmartBoard is a wonderful tool but only one student may use it at a time. With a clicker system, students will be able to participate simultaneously and share their responses without fear or worry that their answer may be wrong.
My Philosophy:
I believe every student can learn and that I can educate every student.
Personal Information:
About Me:
My name is Ashley, and I am a first grade teacher in Western Kentucky. I am currently in my fifth year of working as an educator. I plan to pursue my National Board Certification in the very near future. I love teaching and couldn't imagine doing anything else.
College and Degrees:
I attended Murray State University where I majored in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies. I also attended Madisonville Community College for my Associate's degree.
Interests:
I enjoy technology, creating websites, arts and crafts, travelling, movies, and board games.
Employment History:
2009 - 2010 marks my fifth year in education. I previously taught a 2/3 class, worked in a computer lab for two years, and this is my second year as a first grade teacher. I have worked with children for many years in Girl Scouts, as a reading tutor, and by volunteering.
Why Do I Teach?:
I want to make a difference in the lives of my students. I want to provide opportunities to my students that they might not otherwise have. In many cases, I spend more time with my students than their parents do. It's my goal to make sure each of my students reaches high levels of achievement and becomes the very best person they can be.
Number of students I teach:: 18 students
