Playing with my 4 year old daughter Mya, reading, cooking, dining out, watching movies with my husband and playing on the computer.
Employment History:
1997-1999 Benhaven School - West Haven, CT. This was my first special education teaching position. It was at a private school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders 1999-2002 Jane Ryan Elementary School - Trumbull, CT. The students were in grades K-3 and had various levels of ASD and/or Intellectual Disabilities. 2002-2007Lafayette Elementary School - Shelton, CT. I a resource room and collaborative teacher for students in grades K-4 with varying levels of ability. 2007-Present- Assistive Technology Specialist for the Shelton Public School System - Shelton, CT. I conduct evaluations, write reports, train staff/parents/students,order equipment, collect data, consult with teams, run workshops and staff development and oversee the general use and maintenance of assistive technology devices throughout the entire school system (Pre-K-12).
Why Do I Teach?:
That's like asking me why do I breathe? It is simply what I was meant to do. It makes me happy, I enjoy it, I am good at it. I'm very lucky that I knew what my calling was at a young age (16 yrs) and that I had the means and drive to achieve my goal.
