Class Description:
I teach Fashion Design and Merchandising. Two Levels, which includes sewing, design and drawing, marketing and merchandinsing, retail operations, visual display, pattern layout and construction, tools and equipment, fashion careers, production of fashion shows, and much more over a two year program.

Needs:
We are in need of equipment to support our curriculum such as digital cameras for photo shoots, capturing images for promotional materials and marketing, etc. We also need Handycam cameras for video announcements and production for Fashion show and Media promotional production. Ipads are the newest sketch and design media,which are part of our curriculum and standards to teach computer aided design. Social media is the biggest was to not only market, promote, and to connect with the Fashion world, but to predict and to analyze trends right now,
My Philosophy:
The world is changing and is global right now, Our students, and District, must connect to this beyond the classroom. While local and national connections are important through marketing, merchandising, and promotional Fashion social media forums... we must think outside the box. However, we must teach the basics and then let the students, who have grown up in the technology age, flourish! I expect excellence, and I stive to provide fun, challenging and unique projects for my students; however, we need the digital technology and basic technology to help us. Cameras, to teach composition, digital handycam video cameras to teach production and camera, interview, public speaking, modeling, on air, and editing skills are vital. We would produce video announcements and spots for school. I click is an interactive classroom testing and question/answer program so that they can have feedback instantly. The students although are "worldly" in many ways, need to be taught the basics and taught well with the core techology items... camera, video and computers. then I want to teach them how to use what they produce and put them out into the social media world safely and productively, in a hgh quality and professional format, using the ipad. Finding Fashion Forums to promote and introduce their creations, graphic items, etc. Ipads are the new tools used in fashion by Deigners, and would be vital for us to use on our campus as we could have a traveling classroom. The city can be ours as Fashion students. With this technology, and my expertise in video, photography, and Fashion, I want to try to spark the intrinsic motivaiton in the students to see that the world is theirs now with the global access thru social media...with your help and the cameras, video cameras, iclick, and ipads... they can do this!

About Me:
I have now taught for 20 years. I taught Drama for 15 years, in all areas being a one woman show---lights, sound, publicity, set builder, designer, costumer, director- and classroom teacher. However, I always loved costuming and worked as one, as well as in retail, so I decided to move in to Fashion, I pride myself as being a teacher who expects the best, or more than the reccommended, from my students. I tell them that "they are leaving my classroom with my name associated with them, so they are going to learn it the right way". I won't settle. I won't let my students settle, as they can do it.
College and Degrees:
I have a BFA, in Theatre Performance with an emphasis in Acting from the University of North Dakota. My MFA in Theatre Education for Youth is from ASU. My Bost Bac, M ED is from ASU.
Activities:
I am involved of course in Fashion related activitied. I volunteer with Fresh Start Women's Foundation, and belong to the Fransiscan Renewal Center,
