My Philosophy:
I believe students learn best when they are in charge of their own learning and have choices. My classroom utilizes a poject based instruction philosophy with a number of resources students choose which resources they will use to complete the assignments.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am 46 years old. I have been teaching for 17 years. I am a wife and have been married for 24 years. I have two daughters ages 22 and 18. My oldest daughter has just graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in nursing. My youngest is working on graduating from high school. I also have a dog named Koal, he is the baby of the family.
College and Degrees:
I have a Bachelors Degree in Education with an emphasis in Language Arts in K-8 from New Mexico State University.
Activities:
School keeps me very busy and I am a team player and a leader. I was a presenter at the New Mexico State Reading Conference. I have served as an Intel Master Teacher. I have served as an example and a trainer for my development of a closed circuit television production. I served as the Team Leader for my peers for two years. I have been a cooperating teacher, modeling for student teachers for the district many times. I have served as a member of an action research grant and presented at the Action Research Data Analysis and Presentation Workshops at the state level. I have also trained teachers in my district on Moodle, an online course management system. I presently serve as one of the Novell Administrators at my school and the technology liaison for the school technician. I was named Technology Teacher of the Year by the New Mexico Education Department's Education Technology Bureau for 2009.
Favorite Books:
Right now my favorite books are: Using Moodle by Jason Cole and Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works by Howard Pittler.
Interests:
Aside from teaching I love spending time with my family, reading, walking with my dog, texting my daughters, going to wine fests, and watching a lot of TV in the summer! I also love doing anything with photography. I am the picture taker in the family. I am the one taking the pictures and creating slide shows and videos with my family as the talent.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love teaching and watching kids learn new skills. I like the idea of making a difference in a child's life, giving them new ideas for learning and maybe influencing who they are when they grow up.
