Needs:
Effective technology to enhance the classroom experience. A hook for students who might otherwise not be interested in school and a way to integrate best practices into my classroom to increase the value and rigor of instruction.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am a 2nd year teacher aspiring to do great things in my school. I want to break out of the old habits of textbooks and worksheets and incorporate technology in new and exciting ways. I love computers and technology myself, and disassembled my first PC when I was 9 years old. I hope to pass my love of electronics and the digital world onto my students so they can stay competitive in a world that is moving as quickly as it is.
College and Degrees:
I received my BS in Education from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. I am classified as Highly Qualified under No Child Left Behind in Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies
Favorite Books:
"The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordian, "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins "1984" by George Orwell to name a few.
Favorite Quotes:
"If it is to be, it is up to me" "Who controls the past controls the present, who controls the present controls the future"
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because children are our future. So many wonderful ideas come from children every day because they are not yet inhibited by the adult world. They are all bright and want to learn and can learn as long as they have the tools to allow them to.
