I teach music because it enriches the quality of life for my students and my community. I teach singing because all children should grow into adults who can sing lullabies to their babies and Happy Birthday to a friend. I teach dancing and instrument playing because all children should grow into adults who can clap on the beat at sporting events and who can dance at their friend's wedding. I teach a love and expression of and through music because all children need to be moved by what is under the surface of music, and all children should grow into adults who enjoy a classy night out at the symphony or simply enjoying street performers while they wait for the train. There is something magical about how music can communicate where words fail. Music is the invisible thread that binds generations together. I teach music because it changed me - and I believe in its power to change the world.
