I teach Reading to four periods a day and like to incorporate technology into my lessons.
Position:

About Me:
I have been teaching for 15 years in the Calhoun County school system in Alabama. I'm married and have two precious children. I'm active in my church's children's ministry. I am a technology geek and love learning about new ways to use technology.

I recently finished an add on certification as a Reading Specialist. I also have an Ed. S and Master's degree in Early Childhood/ElementaryEducation. I hope to purse a Doctorate degree in the near future. I am also a National Board Certified teacher as a Middle Childhood Generalist.
Activities:
I love to read! Imagine that! I also love to help kids who struggle to read. I enjoy singing and playing the piano. I am in charge of the music for our K-6 children's ministry at my church. I love playing outside in our pool with my two kids and traveling to the beach every summer.
Favorite Books:
I have way too many to list, but here are a few of my favorites-the Bible,All the Harry Potter books, anything written by John Grisham or Nicholas Sparks, It's Not About Me by Max Lucado, Books written by Janet Oke. I also read a lot of professional books on best teaching practices.
Interests:
Reading, Music, Playing the piano, Singing, Teaching kids to read
Employment History:
1992-2005 Teacher at Weaver Elem. School (Taught K, 1st, & 3rd) 2005-2007 Reading Coach 2007-present6th grade Reading Teacher
Why Do I Teach?:
Beacause the pay is outstanding-at least my last contact was for $15 million over two years. Wait a minute! That wasn't me! It was a professional ball player. I teach because God instilled in me a love for children. That sounds very cliche, but I truly enjoy getting to know them as people and watching them learn something for the first time. I am always learning when I am teaching kids and the days are never dull. I forgot about the 3 month vacation in the summer-NOT!
