My Philosophy:
I believe that everyone has the ability to learn and it is may job to facilitate that learning. All Learning is most successful when it is taught in a holistic manner where students are working on projects that reach across the curriculum and integrate all subjects from math to language arts. Students should be held to high standards and all lessons should be directed towards predetermined goals and objectives. How students obtain those objectives though can be very individualized. In helping students obtain these objectives teachers need to take into account that students have different learning styles. Students should be allowed to express their knowledge on a subject thought many different means including visual, written, logical mathematical and so on. All lessons should be presented in as many different ways as possible to allow students who have different learning styles to learn the subject matter in the way that is the easiest for them. Teachers also need to be understanding of other cultures and use the traditional knowledge of those cultures to enhance their lessons. We live in a global community and western society can learn much from other cultures, which have been traditionally underrepresented in our curriculum. To some up my philosophy of education I believe that all students can be successful with the proper services and supports and they should be taught in a way that reflects real life not compartmentalizedinto different subjects. Finally teachers need to take into account student differences and use them to maximize understanding.
