Class Description:
I work with about 10-15 students per year. I work with the lowest acheiving students in the first grade. I give each student a 30 minute individualized lesson in reading and writing. My goal is to bring the children up to grade level at an accelerated rate. When one child reaches grade level, they are exited from the program and I work with the child that is next lowest at the time.

Needs:
I really need a digital camera and a scanner and computer that are compatible with each otherl. I have been using a program called real-e writer where the students can publish and distribute the books that they write. These will serve as instruments in creating these books.
My Philosophy:
Reading is the number one thing that can help a person to succeed in life. My goal as a reading teacher is too not only instruct children in reading so they can succeed in school, but so that when they grow up the can have a place in the world where they will have job satisfaction, confidence, and be the type of parents that serve as role models to their children. I believe that all children, given some solid support, can be successful readers and writers and leaders.
