Class Description:
I have a unique position this year working with students in grades 3rd through 5th. I am one of the ELA specialist that work with children in their own classrooms. At our school, we only have pull-ins, not pull-outs. I work with small groups in the area of English Language Arts at different times throughout the day.
Position:
Reading/Writing Specialist
Needs:
The children that I work with have many different difficulties, but the number one is vocabulary. I have found that if I could help them understand what they are reading about, then they will be more successful in the classroom. I am in need of a device that I could carry with me throughout the day, like an Ipad, and use it within my groups for a visual tool for vocabulary.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy is that all children have the ability to learn. As a teacher, it is my job to find that special technique that can make them successful. I also believe that the more tools that a teacher can have at their fingertips, the more we could tap into that child who might not be successful with traditional ways of teaching. Each child is unique and each needs different ways/tools to be successful.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I want all children to succeed in school and in life. My grandfather was a teacher/coach for most of his life and he was the main inspiration for me becoming a teacher. The look on a child's face when they finally understand is priceless! That is why I love teaching!
