About Me:
My name is George Lovera and I am honored to be teaching social studies. This is my 14th year at Glenwood Middle School. I received my undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 1991. In 1993, I attained my Masters in Arts and Teaching from Towson State University. I love the Philadelphia Eagles. This passion stems from a birthright that is placed on all who are born in the Philadelphia region. I look at my affair with the Eagles as much a burden as a privilege. Going to games, however, is pure enjoyment. I have over 20 family members that are season ticket holders along with me. Gameday Sunday’s at the Linc are a wonderful family reunion. Maybe our beloved “Iggles” will one day win the big one. However, even if that does not happen, we will continue to support the team from the City of Brotherly Love! My philosophy towards education is simple. I believe that family/faith come first and all else is a distant second. I recognize we live in a global community where competion is more fierce than ever. I also believe the best way to prepare our youth for the future is to expose them to a well-balanced life. If homework is taking over 30 minutes a night, please sign off with a note as to where your child struggled. I also believe that we need to promote self-confidence by allowing them to make their own mistakes, own up for those mistakes, and communicate their concerns directly to the person they are in conflict.
