Class Description:
My class is all African American Students in a low economic status. We are in a part of the city trying to rebuild and turn around from crime and poverty.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
We are in need of every kind of technology. Most of my students only see a computer while at school. We have a lack of parent support. I have many inculsion students that respond will to technology.
My Philosophy:
I love to use new things to teach old ideas. We use smart care and projects when they are able to be checked out. My students need to learn technology to be able to meet today job needs. Students respond better to project and interative than to pencil and paper.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am a third year teacher. I am from a very country town growing up. Then moved to the intercity to teach. Talk about a shock. I also work at nights at the Public library.
College and Degrees:
I have a BS in Elementary Education and a Masters in Library Science from Louisiana Tech University.
Activities:
I am a the lead second grade teacher. I help with book fair,DIBLES,and many other projects around the school. Seems like there is always something needing to be done or redone.
Favorite Books:
Don't let the pigeon driver the bus. ALl Junie B. Jones.
Interests:
I love to read. My students tease me about always having a book in my bag or purse.
Employment History:
I have taught for three year at Newton Smith Elementary.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because without me my students would have no one. I am there to make sure they get all they need. I get to be counsler, Dr., friend and lawyer if need be for my students. They know someone is always there.
