I am very excited to have 18 eager 9 & 10 year olds this year. While they are all close in age, their personalities and abilities are all unique.
Position:
4 th grade teacher
Needs:
We need software such as, Kidspiriation. This will help the students visualize and comminucate THEIR thinking about concepts.
We are also very much in need of a Smartboard and projector. As it is now, the children have to crowd around a 19inch monitor to see.
My Philosophy:
The future is in my classroom now. These young minds are preparing for a world that will become even more technological than it is now.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am a lifelong resident of Scott City. I graduated from Scott City High School in 1989. I am married to Greg Heisserer who is a 1983 graduate of Scott City High School.
College and Degrees:
I earned my B.S. in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Southeast Missouri State University. I also earned my Master degree in Administration from SEMO.
Favorite Books:
Right now, my favorite books are the Hank Zipzer series written by Henry Winkler. This series is about a boy in the 4th grade who is bright, but struggles academically. This is a great look into what the classroom is like for students who learn differently
Interests:
Books! I love them!!
I enjoy scrapbooking my children.
I have also purchased a GPS and plan to start geocaching.
Employment History:
I previously taught in Sikeston Missouri for 3 years. I have now completed 5 years at Scott City, Missouri
Why Do I Teach?:
Children are why I teach. The potential in each child amazes me every day. To help guide them to their future is simply awesome.
