Class Description:
I am a volunteer with Americorps VISTA. A federal organization, started under the leadership of President John F. Kennedy, whose purpose is to help impoverished areas of America by engaging in intensive service to meet critical needs of the community. I am assigned to STEM Middle at Baldwin Road Junior High in Reynoldsburg with the objective of working with faculty and students to help create sustainable programs within the school that will ultimately increase parent involvement and the students' desire to learn.
Needs:
Items for the Literacy Lounge The Literacy Lounge is an area in the school that faculty and students have been working on, side by side, for the past year. The goal is to make this space a modern library with a cyber cafe feel. Although the Literacy Lounge is up and running, we are still in need of some items like: Books (Grades 5-8), iPads (6), and cosmetic items such as paint, carpeting, pictures, etc.
