Class Description:
BiologyAstronomy/Geology
Position:
Science Teacher
Needs:
Everything there is no limit. Every year there is something new to buy or purchase. I use technology in the classroom daily and every three years it seems the technology becomes obsolete. "If you build it they will come" I don't want money to be a hindrance to providing all students with technology they will need in the future
My Philosophy:
Hello- My name is Mr. Grover and I am a teacher in the Denver Public Schools. If you are reading this it means that you want to know a little more about Me. I would first like to welcome you to my teaching world. I view teaching as an opportunity. It is the single most important thing we can be a part of, and when we all start to learn their is no greater reward. I believe inherently we all want to be successful and it is my job to make sure that learning is top priority. That being said teaching is the hardest thing I have ever tried to do. I am still learning and will be the first to admit that I make mistakes. My mistakes are not personal. I really do care about the education at East. If we can work together we can accomplish great things. I am an avid traveler and love to explore new places and different cultures. I have been all over the world and can't wait to bring my experiences into the classroom. I was recently married this summer on top of North Peak in Keystone Colorado. There is no greater joy than sharing your life experiences with someone. We have a lot of work to do this year and I can't do it without your help. I wish you the best of luck and with good study habits and a willingness to learn we will exceed beyond all of our expectations.
Personal Information:
About Me:
This is my 10th year in the Denver Public Schools. I teach at one of the best schools in my district. I have lived in Denver for 11 years and love being in a place where the sun shines daily and the mountains are 10 minutes away. You would think that Colorado would be a prime market for teachers and lead the country in educational practices. However we consistently rank at the bottom of per pupil money. We consistently are underfunded and our facing serious budget cuts due to the state of our economy. That being said I believe Denver holds some of the nations greatest teachers. We have a strong voice and a change is coming.
College and Degrees:
I attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison and majored in Zoology and Biological Aspects of Conservation. I received my teaching degree through a Teacher in Residence program sponsored by Metro State here in the City. I am currently working on my Masters through Regis College.
Activities:
I like to ski, hike, walk my dog and spend time with my wife.
