Class Description:
I teach science in a rural Georgia alternative school. The students are at-risk of dropping out of school and the staff of the Floyd County Education Center strive to assist all of the learners academically, behaviorally and socially. We lack the computer technology that could greatly assist us in our efforts to help the children. Often, our students have bounced from one school setting to another, come from broken homes and have been in trouble with local law enforcement. Please, if possible help us, we would deeply appreciate any type of assistance.

Needs:
Any type of computer technology....PCs,laptops etc... my dream is for my classroom to have about 18-20 laptops or computers so that I can have a computer for each child. I teach mulitple subjects at one time. I have to be quick on my feet and ready to provide each learner with the support needed to understand concepts. In my first block class, I teach biology, environmental science, phyiscs, chemistry.....second...samething...I have been teaching at the alternative school for 10 years...and I love it.....I love the challenge of teaching at-risk children. Any type of computer technology would be great...Oh...yes...aprojector and a smart board would be great...Please consider our school, I realize there are many people asking for things. My Philosophy:
Treat each child as if he/she were your own. Remember to be compassionate, caring and expect good things to happen. All children can achieve, it is up to the teacher to set the bar and demonstrate the desired behaviors. If children know you care, they will perform regardless of their background and social conditions. I hope I always remember what it feels like to be a child, the things I loved, the things I wanted to change. I have that opportunity now! Often children do not have a voice, they are helpless in the choices adults have made for them. We, as responsible adults, must be their voice, to protect, teach and love them. I have taught on the preschool, middle, high school and college levels and I have found that all children are the same...they want to be loved, respected and believed in. I believe teacihng is an honor and I love it with all my heart. Please help me to continue my dreams of reaching all children.
