Personal Information:
About Me:
I'm 27 years old. I am finishing my 4th year as a special education teacher. I absolutely love teaching special needs students and plan to never leave! I taught students with Autism my 1st year and for the past 3 years have been teaching the multiple handicap children. The love and passion that I have for my job is undescribable. I have such a close relationship with all my students and parents.

I love love love sports! I played growing up and received a college scholarship to play basketball at West Liberty University. My family is very sport oriented and my father and uncles are long-time coaches that are very successful. I love working out at the gym and spending as much time with my family as possible.
Favorite Books:
Twilight Series, The Notebook, Charlotte's Web, I'll Love You Forever, Oh, The Place You'll Go!
Interests:
I'm interested in learning more about reaching the needs of students with disabilities. Also, I am interested in learning about integrating technology into the classroom and how this technology can benefit special needs children. I have a strong passion for students with Autism. I love finding new resources and methods that work for these kids.
Employment History:
My first year of teaching I worked in West Virginia serving as the countywide Autism Specialist. This position was more of an administrative position where I worked with the teachers who had children with Autism in their classrooms. Although I loved my job, I realized my passion was teaching and wanted to be in the classroom working hands-on with the kids. I took a job as the multiple handicap teacher and have been for the past 3 years. I have had anywhere from 5 to 8 kids in my classroom and up to two aides. I've had children in wheelchairs who needed assistance with using the restroom to severe behavioral autism. I've worked with physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, vision specialists, behavioral specialists and autism specialists.
Why Do I Teach?:
Throughout the years you will experience a different diversity of students that come through your classroom. They all require different styles of learning. Finding that students style that fits them best and seeing their face light up when they "get" something and knowing that I made an impact in their life in some way is the reason why I teach.
