Class Description:
I teach a class of third graders this year, but have taught all three grades (1-3), but third is my favorite and the one I teach most often.
Position:
Third Grade Teacher
Needs:
I need a document camera and Elmo. I listed my reasons on the other section.
My Philosophy:
Teaching using the 21st Century technology is key in the development of our students' future. We need to use it, show it, and teach using modern day technology in order for them to stay up to speed with other students and learn to their fullest potential.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have taught for 11 years on Whidbey Island in the grades 1-3. I love to teach and will ensure my students learn what is essential so will do all I can to see that happens.
College and Degrees:
I have a B.S. from the University of Washington, River Falls in Education. I have a Lesley University Masters degree.
Activities:
I teach integrated lessons. For example, my class just dressed up and brought a meal for the anual "Bite of Coupeville" which is a study of their cultural heritage.
Interests:
Backpacking, hiking, tennis, golf, photography, scrapbooking,poetry
Employment History:
Besides teaching 11 years for Coupeville School District, I subbed three years prior to that.
Why Do I Teach?:
I want to inspire kids to be all they can be, make them feel confident, especially if that is something they are lacking, and ensure they are ready for the future. I love working with children and watching them spark when they learn something new for the first time.
