In this unit, the students at my high school, Newcomers High School, a school for new immigrants in LIC, Queens, will connect with American born high school students in Patchogue, Long Island.

In stage one, I will train my immigrant students in how to use the flip video camera.

Simultaneously, students in Patchogue will learn to use their cameras.

Next students will borrow the cameras overnight to create "a day in the life" video diaries of their lives as immigrant teens. They will show what they do when they get home from school, how they play, watch TV, interact with their families, etc. Students in Patchogue will do the same.

We will then email videos to each other, getting to know each other through these videos.

Later, we will conduct video conferences using Skype to talk to each other.

Finally, we will meet face-to-face at the end of the year, to celebrate our connections and the bridge we have built between the two groups.
