School: McKissick Elementary School, Easley, SC
Planned By: Parker Rowland
Original Author: Parker Rowland, Greenville
Activating Strategy:
1. Review multiplication with strategies, tips, and tricks.
(A quick facts quiz may be good)
2. Explain the purpose of the lesson and activity.
(A formative assessment to see where students are in the process)
3. Model using the ShowMe app.
(Connect an iPad to a projector or interactive board using a dongle)
a. Focus on how to record
b. Focus on pen colors (a great tool for lattice)
c. Focus on how to save

During Activity:
1. If you have a few iPads or mobile devices then set them up in stations throughout the room. Otherwise for 1:1 have students work at their desk.
2. Have the students complete one of the problems listed on the directions sheet. (The directions sheet should have three problems ranging from easy to difficult. For example 278 x 7 / 35 x 27 / 986 x 53)
3. If you have a few iPads or mobile devices then follow the directions below:
4. Students will be completing two activities at various times.
a. Students waiting to record the multiplication problem will be using their activExpressions to answer multiplication and division problems.
b. Students will be taking turns rotating out to use ShowMe to solve multiplication problems.
i. Students will select the problem that they want to complete
ii. Students will record themselves working out and discussing the problem
iii. Students will save their work to the app
iv. Students will review their work with the teacher to assess their accuracy

Summarizing Strategy:
1. Review the students finished videos as a whole group to assess accuracy.
Comments
Any supplements such as the templates and rubrics can be provided upon request. Also, student examples can be provided upon request.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Integrates technology and math. Writing journals could be added as a final activity to discuss what steps were taken to complete the steps.
Follow-Up
Students could use their lattice multiplication videos to teach their peers.
