Hometown:
Asheboro, North Carolina
Class Information:
Room Number: a-8
Students per Class: 15
Class Description:
My class consists of 50% English Language learners. Six are of Hispanic origin and 1 pakistani. They are overall very young and need various modalities for learning. The more interesting the actiity, the more it keeps their interest.
Position:
teacher
Needs:
I would like to have a couple of digital cameras and a photo printer to help my children take real pictures for their alphabet books. Allowing them to choose their pictures themselves will connect meaning to the letters.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am 36 years old and have been teaching for 9 years. I have been married for 11 years. I have a 7 year old daughter named Raley and a 19 month old son named Gannon.
College and Degrees:
I attended UNCG, East Carolina, and finally graduated from Greensboro College with a B.S. in Elementary Education. We won't go into why it took 3 colleges to get a degree
Activities:
I love to spend time with my children and my husband. I also love to vaccuum. I don't know what my obsession with clean floors means, but I am a little afraid to find out.
Favorite Books:
Anything by James Patterson
Interests:
NASCAR racing
Employment History:
I had many various jobs at a local furniture manufacturing company. While I was in college, I worked in the plant stacking pillows, and in the replacement parts department. I also worked in accounts receivable and accounts payable. But, my favorite job there was answering the switchboard. I can be very perky when I want to be!
Why Do I Teach?:
It is so much fun! Every year poses new challenges and questions!
