Hemlock Elementary School
Class Information:
Room Number: 127
Students per Class: 29
Class Description:
We just started all day kindergarten in our district in 2009. I am excited with all that I am able to teach my students now that they actually have time to learn and soak it all in. Our school is in the middle of a small farming community. Now that we have more time in our day, I would really like to incorporate more technology into my curriculum. I recently purchased a document camera and projector with my personal money and I can't believe how it has changed the way the students learn.
Child friendly digital cameras (6 would be awesome) InteractiveSMART board Response system to go with the SMART board
My Philosophy:
I believe that all children are important and capable of learning. If they are given time, encouragement, a sense of belonging, and kindness they will grow into wonderful human beings who are capable of positively contributing to our society. I feel as if my students become part of my "family" and I will do anything to help them, protect them, and fight for them.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been teaching in our district for 15 years now all of them in kindergarten except my first year when I taught Young Fives. I have been a part of the math committee and the science committees. I have also been onur technology committee "Vision 2020". I enjoy teaching and using new ideas in my classroom to help the children learn to the best of their abilities.
College and Degrees:
Bachelors in Elementary Education (with a Planned Program of Math/Science) from Saginaw Valley State University amd a Masters Degree from Uof M in Early Childhood. Mastersin Early Childhood with a ZA Endorsement from the University of Michigan
I enjoy spending time with my family at my parents' place. I try to stay fit by jogging and playing volleyball.
Favorite Books:
I love the books by Robert Munsch ( a children's picture book author.
Employment History:
I started out working as a young child on my parents' blueberry farm where they taught me the value of hard work and a good work ethic. I then worked at a day care center while I was studying in college to get some more experience with children. After graduation I finished up teaching a school year at our local Catholic elementary school. I was then hired part-time for one section of Young Fives. The following year a full time kindergarten position opened uup and I applied and I'm still here.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love it. I enjoy being around the children and helping them learn all that is required of them to learn.
