Prior to the bookstore, students will submit application for and interview for bookstore positions.
Objectives: The student will participate in the setting up of the school bookstore at the elementary school (placing books on table, setting up cash register, counting money). The student will assist elementary students select books from the school store, purchase books, and read books to the students. The students will take pictures of other students working inthe bookstore. Pictures will be shared with the elementary school students. Pictures will also be used to add to student portfolios in the area of careers and work experience. The student will participate in the cleaning up of the school bookstore at the elementary school (collecting books from table, counting money, loading materials onto bus.
Activities: The students will set up book displays. The students will assist students in making purchases. The students will keep book area tidy. The students will read books to the elementary students. The students will clean up bookstore area.
Timeline: An entire school day every three weeks.
Location: Various elementary schools in our district.
Assessments: Checklist for each work station. Assessments will be placed in the students portfolio. |
