Students are able to use GPS Units to explore various map skills. Some of the skills explored are directions, cardinal directions, elevation, map scales. Through use of the GPS students will be able to create basic maps of local areas.

Students will be able to explore longitude and latitude. Students will be able to see how the longitude and latitude changes. Students will be asked to find certain locations based on given longitudes and latitudes.

Students will create a slide show to demonstrate what they have learned. They will include the different map skills that they have encountered in the GPS lessons. They will take pictures of fellow classmates engaged in the learning activities, to incorporate into their slide shows.
Follow-Up
Students will learn how GPS works. They will learn about the components needed for GPS to work. They will learn about how space technology is related to this form of technology. They will learn about sattelites, and how they assist in gps technology.

Students will learn about modern warfare and how many of the high tech weaponry relies on gps technology.
Materials: Point and Shoot, Yearbook, Slideshow, Podcasting, Flash/USB Drives
