After reading a book, the student will use power point to present an overview of the book. Students will use catchy wording, suspense, persuasion, humor, and other literary devices to "hook" classmates on the idea of choosing this book as their next read.

Some students may choose to do a "book talk" by recording themselves with a digital camera and then using software such as Movie Maker to insert sound effects and other attention getting visuals.

Some students may wish to incorporate photos, unique backgrounds and artwork, songs, or other types of media into their book review. This can include sketches or character descriptions as well as other creative ideas the students may have.

Many of our students are familiar with the software and programs used in creating a power point.

The clips and slide shows will play via a TV or Smartboard during Open Check-out in our school library.
Comments
This is a unique way of encouraging students to read! Many students choose a book based on the opinions of friends and classmates. This type of book reviews will reach more students and multiple grade levels in our school. As a bonus, many of our students may enjoy the activity so much that he/she chooses a career in technology or other related jobs.
