Groups of students will use digital cameras to take pictures of types of lines that they find around school. Each group will be assigned a different kinds of line (horizontal, vertical, intersecting, parallel, and perpendicular). Each group will photograph at least five examples of their assigned type of line. Next, each group will present their pictures to the class. After group presentations, the pictures taken by students will be distributed by the teacher to groups. Each group will receive an unlabeled picture of each kind of line. The groups must identify the kind of line(s) in each picture and label them as horizontal, vertical, intersecting, parallel, and/or perpendicular. Afterwards, the class will discuss each group's answers. After completion of the activity, all pictures will be classified and posted in classroom to serve as a continuous reference for students.
