Introduction of the three types of writing for the Young Author books via teacher created primary, intermediate and upper grade Power Point presentations. The Power Point presentations will be saved in the libray folder on the server and can be accessed by students from any of the school's computers.

Young Author's books and commercially produced books written by children will be presented and viewed by each class.

The "How Books Are Made" video from Safari Montage will be viewed by primary and intermediate students. The accompanying quiz questions and answers will be reviewed.

The guidelines for completion of the books will be introduced to the classes.

A worksheet (one for each of the three levels) detailing the parts of a book to be included in the development of the Young Author's book will be distributed and discussed.

A manuscript draft form with semantical and syntactical components will be distributed and reviewed by students.

The drafts will be corrected and blank books will be presented to each students for completion.

Each completed work will be assessed via a book rubric.


Students will take a Young Author's Quiz to assess their knowledge of parts of a book and writing styles.

Young Author winners will be acknowledged via morning announcements, the school newsletter and the school website.
