Students be ibnstructed in the use of digital cameras to accurately record crime scenes for their Forensic Science Class. Photographs will then be included in the documents that they create which will consist of evidence and results and crime scene photographs that exemplify proper professional presentation for the courtroom. Instruction will consist of learning basic camera techniques and move in to adjusting various aspects of the camera to record the clearest and most accurate image possible. Practice will consist of creating a basic portfolio of images shot under various challenging conditions. They will learn light painting techniques and other "tricks" used by crime scene investigators to enhance the quality of the recorded image.
Students will also use digital photographs in slide show presentation format to demonstrate the best examples of types of evidence that they have investigated in their inquiry-based Forensic Science class. this will consist of choosing their best slides or other materials to record and create presentations for the class. Shows will be viewed by the class and advice and constructive comments will be shared to help students enhance their camera skills throughout the year.
