Students will use primary and secondary sources to gather information about their family trees.
1. Each student will create a list of questions to ask a grandparent or another relative who is older than their parents. 2. Each student will gather pictures of family events and of their own childhood. 3. Students may record family interviews to use in the creation of a podcast. 4. Use the internet to look up the meaning of their names, first and last. 5. Use the internet to find interesting facts about their family name. 6. Compile all the research into a photo story. 7. Convert the photo story to a file that can be used in podcasting. 8. Upload their podcast and share with classmates.
If a student is uncomfortable researching their own family, he/she may research a famous family from history.
The podcasts will then be tied to their study of Romeo and Juliet. |
