School: Durban Avenue Elem School, Hopatcong, NJ

The Ground Work:
Students will be introduced to the Mobile Digital Camera Lab the first week of school. They will be given a detailed lesson on the use of the cameras. Then they will be taught how a slide show works using the software the lab comes with as well as existing software. Next they will be given hands-on time to work with the cameras taking pictures of eachother. Finally, they will take the pictures, upload them onto the computers and make a slideshow, which will be presented to the class.

Let the Fun Begin:
After the "ground work" phase the basic, daily program will be instituted in the classroom. Students will take turns being the "reporter/camerperson for on the "spot" and candid pictures of anyone in the school. For example pictures can be taken during recess, lunch, in the classroom, hallway and bus arrivals and dismissals.
Then there will be students that will be incharge of the school's events, such as plays, assemblies and concerts.
Classroom teachers will be able to call upon our class to snap a few shots of special classroom events that may be occuring at different times during the year.
Then at the end of the month students will put the pictures on a slide show and present them to the entire school at a monthly assembly. This will be a great way to show school spirit and pride.
Clubs can be highlighted!
Individual classes can be highlighted!
It is just an awesome way to boost school spirit!
Pictures can be printed and posted on a bulletin board as well!

The Benefits!
Students in my class will work together cooperatively and differentially. They will decide on the parameters of the program as a group. They will decide on the editing process. They will come up with creative ways to make the slide show better each month.
They can then take all the pictures of the year and make a yearbook for everyone.
They can make a year end slideshow.
In addition, the entire school population will be involved because they will look forward to seeing themselves monthly. They will be motivated to act proper in school and think of creative ways they might earn a moment on the slide show.
We can even have "guest" photographers from other classes help out with the program.
The ideas are simply endless with something like a mobile digital camera lab in the classroom!!!

Assessment
Students will be assessed on their ability to work cooperatively.
They will be assessed on participation.
They will be assessed on various writing assignments that can be drawn from this digital program.

A digital lab in my classroom would have endless possiblities and certainly be used on a daily basis with positive outcomes that will bring miles of smiles to the entire student body, faculty and parents.
Follow-Up
This will be used with Podcasting equip and software if I am lucky enough to win that entry. I also have an ActivBoard in my classroom and this would work wonderful with the big screen and software.
