1. Group students in pairs and have student pairs pick a country to research.
2. Give the students criteria for what they should research about the country (i.e., geography, government, economy).
3. Have student pairs use various resources to research their assigned country.
4. Model for students how to a write a script for their podcast.
5. Have students use their research to write a script informing others about the country.
6. Use Garageband, Audacity, or other podcasting recording tool to record each pair's podcast.
7. Compile the recordings together to create an "Around the World" podcast.
Comments
Possible Extension: Have the students find copyright friendly pictures to add to their recordings to create a video podcast.

Another option:
You could have the students research US states instead of countries and create "A Trip Across the United States" podcast.
Follow-Up
Give the students an opportunity to listen to other groups' podcasts.
