Students collect a series of bandaids and sit in a circle. Each student passes an individual mirror from person to person. As you receive the mirror each person is responsible for naming a social issue that needs healing and then placing a band aid on their face. After all bandaids are placed on each other's faces, students look into the mirror and discuss the connection between their face and the world. Students then are given a copy of Man in the Mirror lyrics. As we listen along to the song, students underline vocabulary words and significant passages. As groups students discuss their findings. Large group reconvenes and we discuss the theme and vocabulary. Students then make contracts on how they promise to handle a certain issue. Students take pictures of one another from varying angles. Students then create storyboard for shooting a music video that teaches about the theme. Students then combine photos and video clips on timeline in line with the music to create a music video. Later students invite others to their screening and prepare for viewing.
Follow-Up
