Lesson Summary..
This lesson introduces the Olympus digital camera and how to take the best photo for the career project. The students will download their picture, search clipart.com for what their appearance would be in their selected occupation and download their selected clipart.

Resources/Materials/Equipment
4 Olympus cameras, computers, hard copy of directions and examples, name of their occupation

Problem or Question Statement:
How will the student take a suitable photo and select the appropriate clipart, and download it to the computer?


Results Presentation: a completed photo of student in occupation attire. ( such as a medical doctor)

Activities prior to computer:
Teacher demonstration of the proper use and how to download the photos from the camera. In groups of 4-5 students will practice taking photos of each other, using zoom, different lighting, and deleting photos. After practicing, each student will take 2 photos of a person in their group.

Activities while at computer:
1. While photos are being taken, students may search, download, and save their occupation clipart to use with the photo.
2.After all photos are taken, each student will download their own photo onto their computer and save it in their picture folder.
3. If time permits, introduce photoshop elements tools.

Activities after the computer:
Students sharing with their group and with the class what they have learned with this lesson. Listening skill.. how many times did the word camera be mentioned when sharing with the class?

Assessment :
Peer-Checkoff sheet for the appropriate skills in using the camera

Enrichment :
Independently following directions, starting to work with photoshop elements to select what parts of the clipart and photo the student would use in the next lesson.

Correctives:
Partner work, teacher assist, strap around neck to hold camera, tripod,

This unit extends over 20 classes.. it includes the student using Inspiration, Microsoft office ( word, excel, powerpoint),Photoshop elements, a Filmentality page , Clipart.com, camera use, All the Right Type and printing.
