Students will be divided into groups of three and will choose a book to read together. They will decide how much to read, when to read , and design discussions for the group. when the students have completed reading the book, they will create an interview with one or more of the characters from the book. Students must create an award and present it to one or more of the characters in the book.
The main character could be recieiving an award of merit for his or her achievements in the book.
Students will decide which character(s) will recieve the award, and why he or she is recieving it. The award will be given on camera and recorded. Students will dress their parts for the interview and be sure to include the award they created for the character.
Example: Charlotte's Web could be used as the book. Students gave Charlotte an award for bravery called the "Golden Web Award". It was given to her for her bravery above and beyond what the ordinary spider (friend) would do in a crisis.
This award is in the shape of a web, sprayed with gold glitter paint.
One of the students is dress as MS. Katie Curic from station DEF in Sherman Tx.
One of the other students is dress as Miss Charlotte and is very surprised when she is awarded the Golden Web.
The third student will be the camera man and all will assist in creating a short segment to be viewed or presented to the whole class.
