Grades K through 2
School: Adams Elementary School, Wichita, KS
Planned By: Ashley Rudkin
Original Author: Ashley Rudkin, Wichita
Students will take a short reading passage. They will get a flip camera and record themselves reading the passage. When they are finished, they will play their video back and listen to how they sounded. If students are having difficulty, the teacher will record themselves reading the passage, allowing the student to listen to the the text and following along.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Students could listen to passages on anything, as long as there was text to go along with it.
Follow-Up
Students will re-record themselves after practicing. They will compare their new video their first one, making note of their fluency, accuracy, words read per minute, and expression.
