Gas Laws Multimedia Video Project

In this lesson, Students will work in groups to create a 15 minute video explaining two of the gas laws to the class .They will be teaching the class about the authors of these laws, introducing the actual laws and demonstrating activities that illustrates these laws in everyday life applications. This lesson uses a project based approach to learn about Boyle's and Charles' s Laws.

Details : Process of making the Video using Flip Camera and Video Editing Software

In groups, students will make this 15 minute video using a Flip camera and any video editing software. Following were the details and project outline given to student groups:

1. Make a title for your project. This title should include your name, class period and a picture that deals with the topic. BE CREATIVE!!!
2. Find pictures of Robert Boyle and Jacques Charles give a brief history of these two scientists and explain what they had to do with the gas laws.
3. State Charles’s and Boyle’s Laws
3. Find out what the kinetic theory of matter is. How does this theory relate to the Gas Laws?
4. Find an example of Boyle’s and Charles’s laws in action. (Demonstration) Try to find something that is in everyday life. Explain how this demonstration shows the law. If you have trouble finding demonstrations see me for ideas.
5. Find a lab activity that applies to Boyle’s and Charles’s Laws. Make sure you completely explain these activities and tell the materials needed to do the activities. At the end of these activities explain how the experiment helps to illustrate the laws. (What the students would find out)
6. Bibliography of sources used in this project if applicable.

Conclusion
See if this project gave you a better understanding of the laws by answering these questions about the laws.
1. What would happen if you placed a balloon in the freezer? Does Charles’s or Boyle's law apply to this?
2. What would happen to a balloon if you blew it up while in a submarine 500 meters under the ocean and then surfaced? Does Charles’s or Boyle's law apply to this?
