Students research the population and demography of Tanzania.

Students study the education reform movement of the 19th century.

Coppell Middle School North 8th grade students contact high schools in New York and Iowa and conduct a video-conference with introductory questions about each region's population and demography.

Students in all three schools create "Day in the Life" videos. Students can use FlipShare program to edit, enrich, and share their videos.

Students use the FlipShare iPod app to view the videos, while simultaneously researching Census data, comparing the information from both the student and government perspective.

After comparing Flip videos and Census data, students video-conference about their conclusions, and also collaborate to create a plan to help the Arusha Secondary School in Arusha, Tanzania.

Students utilize communication, problem-solving, and technical skills to develop and implement a creative solution to a global problem. The ultimate goal is to provide assistance to the Tanzanian school so that they can move towards 21st century classrooms.
