1. Model planning a trip using time, bus schedules and technology to access the schedules.
2. Practice in small groups using times, schedules, destinations, etc. using the I-Pod to plan the trip. Teacher gives feecback.
3. Model using the I-Pod to video and narrate a documentary. Teacher gives positive, corrective feedback.
4. Students practice using an I-Pod to record and narrate the story. Teacher gives corrective feedback.
5. Model editing the video. Students practice editing theirs. Teacher gives feedback.
6. In groups of 3, students plan a trip (movies, bowling, museum, park, restaurant, etc.) including times, destination and bus schedules using the I-Pod. Teacher gives feedback.
7. Students take the trip using Public Transportation and record the journey.
8. Students share videos and experiences. Students edit videos and develop powerpoints inserting their videos.
9. Students present to class.
10. Students present to other transition students their powerpoint on using Public Transportation and Technology.
Comments
The I-Pod can be used daily to access information on employment, public transportation, and community events.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
The teacher can also use the I-Pod to skype students on work experience sites on campus.
Follow-Up
Students can use the I-pod to develop more videos on taking trips in the community. Students can also use it to practice job skills such as using the cash register, and counting money. Some students are studying for the Learner's Permit,and there is a wonderful free App for practicing for the exam.
