Title: Step into the Area

Objective: identifying surface area of figures

Materials: soda cans, shoe boxes, wire clothes hangers, ipads

Description: Students will use recycled items to create a world full of area (surface area). Students are to identify the surface area of each item and create multiple scenerios and personalities. For example, with the user of a red bull known as a drink to raise energy level, strength and concentration, students can use the redbull can to create a person using the can of red bull lifting weights. Nonetheless that personality will describe himself by identifying his shape and what is his surface area.

- Based on the individuality of all students collaboration and ideas the class will collaborate and create a world of area.

-Using digital camera's students are to create a movie of no more than ten slides to present to the sixth and seventh grade class. This one movie in particular will have to be authentic, animated, and educational for the rest of the classes to see. This will be considered a lesson in itself in which teachers can introduce as a follow-up lesson.

-Assessment: Calculations for surface area must be accurate enough in which students will create a blurb and each recycled item will be anuimated and talk about how they have concluded to be the surface area they have sumed up to be.
